Resolved Question: What the hell is wrong with this kid?

He and I are both 16. He quit regular school and hired a private tutor that will over see all of his school work in mathmatics and english and everything. His parents bought him a big solid oak desk that is bigger than big. It costed $3000. The computer they bought for him costed $2000. The tutor has a masters degree in physical science. He has his own office with him. Another thing is they gave him a 36 foot motor home with a queen bed and a full shower and everything. To top it all off they bought him a new Jeep wrangler rubicon 2009. For offroading and towing behind his motorhome. He stays in the motor home during the week and comes to his parents house and goes to the house during the weekend. To top it all off he is planning to goto stanford university for his college. What is wrong with him, how come i don't get this. Is he rich or somthing? How much money do you think his parents have? more

Resolved Question: Planning a trip around America (need transport help)?

you guiys might remember me i asked the same question yesterday, but i want to add a little bit more information hi, im planning a trip around america, and when i mean, around america, i mean every state. (except alaska and hawaii) but anyway, what do you guys think would be the best way of transport for me to get around? i was thinking of a motor home, itd be good cause i wouldnt have to spend any money on motels/hotels but its also bad because you cant really park a motor home at theme parks and casinos and restaurants and stuff like that. so would you know any car rental places that will let you hire cars to ge around america for around 6 months. if not, is there any other way of transport that you would recommend? (im not flying, and i dont necessarily want to go taxi/bus hopping, so can you guys help me out? so far, i think motorhomes is the best idea, (i am not going to hitchhike lol) id buy a used car then sell when i get back, except that that will make me pay a lot more money on hotels and stuff. so does everyone agree that motorhome would be best idea? or does anyone else have any ideas? more

Resolved Question: USA driving holiday with kids?

Hi, I'm a single mother with 2 children and we want to go on a driving holiday in the US in January. We have already decided we want to visit los angeles, las vegas, grand canyon, new york and toronto. We have 4 weeks (but will spend a week in toronto so really only 3). I have done a ton of searches on the internet, and being from Australia really have no idea what to expect. Are we better off starting in LA, hiring a car to visit vegas and canyon, then returning to LA, flying to new york then maybe driving to toronto then along the east coast.......OR is the drive across america fantastic and should we just drive across from west-east. We have done a lot of driving around Australia and I can do 1300km in 1 go. Definately don't want to do that again, I think 300 miles/day is reasonable. One more thing, is it better to go with a motorhome (more petrol but save on motels, or take a car) I am a little concerned about safety in a motorhome. If west-east which route is recommended? Based on previous trips around OZ, my kids prefer to stay in each place only 1 max 2 nights, they are obviously gypsies at heart Thanks S more

Resolved Question: Motorhome Holiday: is this a "green holiday" ?

I am wondering what people's opinions are on this: My family consists of two adults and a 4 year old girl. We are thinking about a motorhome holiday beginning in the UK and touring around France and Spain. Our estimated mileage is about 1800 miles. We are intending to hire a motorhome from www.motorhomesdirect.co.uk picking it up in Hertfordshire, UK and then taking a Dover Calais ferry with Sealink. We are hoping to hire something like a Hymer Motorhome with a 2.8l turbo diesel engine. Whilst away we use local shops not supermarkets and we always eat and drink local produce. Alternatively we have an option to fly to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands (from Luton Airport), where I would probably rent a car. In each case the holiday will last 3 weeks. We are more concerned than ever about our carbon footprint, but we do love our holidays. We work very hard during the winter and always feel like we need a holiday. So do you think the motorhome holiday is a greener option? more

Resolved Question: Advice on motorhomes and routes in Australia?

Hello - Im going back to Australia at the end of the year, the last months trip, we visited Melbourne -12 Apostles, Apollo Bay, Fairy penguins and took in Melbourne cup. Brisbane - Australia zoo, fraser island, Sydney, Blue Mountains, Palm Beach. We travel mainly by Virgin Blue but hired a car and drove from Melbourne to Sydney via the Blue mountains, but this time we are thinking about a motorhome and caravan parks, to see a lttile more of the country and keep the costs down. Although we need to incorporate Sydney for New Years eve and a period of time in Brisbane to catch up with Friends, we were considering focusing more of our time in Western Australia as we havent visited any places there. As it looks like the flights are double the price we paid last time, due to the time of year we are going,we need to keep costs down where we can, but still dont want to waste a day of our time over there. I would really appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks in advance. more

We are going to the U.S. in March next year. It is too expensive to get 2 seperate rooms. Or does anyone know of apartment accommodation? Resolved Question: Does the word 'motorcaravan' mean anything to Americans?

I ask this because I have a web site selling motorhome hire in the UK, http://www.motorhomesdirect.co.uk but I'd like to branch out a bit more and deal with US RV, motorhome and campervan market. The site I have is http://www.motorcaravanworld.com - I use this as it used to be the name of a magazine in the UK. My only concern is that the name is too old fashioned. In the UK people tend to say 'motorhome' and 'campervan' or 'camper' and older people say 'motorcaravan', I just wondered if this was the same in the states. Please only answer if you are american or live in the US, I don't need the answer confused by other nationalities just trying to guess the answer. I look forward to getting a good answer! more

Resolved Question: family of 7, family holiday to New Zealand.Where to go, what to do.?

We are a family of 7,(2adults 5 kids) planning on going to NZ next April for a holiday. We are still deceiding whether to do a organised self drive tour, hire a large motorhome or just hire a people mover and stay in accomodation such as hotels, cabins etc.. What are the places that we shouldn't miss, what things should we do, should we plan it , or just see where the wind takes us. we are hoping to go for about 10 days. We don't need to pay for airfare( frequent flyer points) so is it still ideal to book organised holidays. we love the scenic aspects of holidays, not so much the bungee jumping or radical sports and events. Any suggestions would be greatful. you can email me directly if you have more ideas. more

Resolved Question: What is the different between "Collision Damage Waiver" and "Liability Damage Waiver" for renting a motorhome?

I am not familiar with driving such a big car like motorhome with the manual transmission. However,I am going to rent a motorhome for traveling in New Zealand but I quite don't understand about the insurance for the car renting. I got an email from the motorhome renting company and I don't understand some details about it. "Our Standard insurance is a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), which covers the hired vehicle, other vehicles and property up to NZ$1Million.The excess (bond) is : NZ$ 1500,-- ( for drivers aged 25 and over ) NZ$2000,-- ( for drivers between 21 and 24 years of age ) NZ$ 2500,- ( for drivers under 21 years ) " What is the excess bond? Why is it different between drivers age? There is another options that is "Liability Damage Waiver" , the excess and bond can be reduced to : NZ$ 250,- ( for drivers aged 25 and over ) NZ$ 500,- ( for drivers between 21 and 24 years of age ) NZ$ 750,- ( for drivers under 21 years ) Should I pay 16 NZ$ more to get this one instead? more

Resolved Question: milestone jokes?

JOKE TIME AGAIN The Catholic Church's air conditioning broke down, so they had to hire a man to crawl around in the ducts and figure out what was wrong. As the man peeked down through one of the vents in the sanctuary, he saw little old Mrs. Murphy kneeling by the altar, apparently saying her rosary. Since the man was a fundamental Baptist, he thought it'd be funny to try and mess with the lady's mind. In his best authoritative voice, he said, "This is Jesus. Your prayers will be answered." The little old lady didn't even blink, just kept on saying her prayers. The man decided maybe she didn't hear him, and tried again. "This is Jesus, the Son of God! Your prayers will be answered!" Again, she didn't react at all. Mustering up a big breath of air, the man decided to try again. "THIS IS JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD! YOUR PRAYERS WILL BE ANSWERED!" The lady looks up and says, "SHUT UP! I'M TALKING TO YOUR MOTHER!" Two blondes were driving through Louisiana. As they were approaching Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth until they stopped at a fast-food restaurant for lunch. As they stood at the counter, one blonde asked the manager, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are . very slowly?" The manager leaned over the counter and said: "Burrrrrrr-gerrrrrr Kiiiiiing." A little girl and a little boy were at day care one day. The girl approaches the boy and says, "Hey Tommy, want to play house?" He says, "Sure! What do you want me to do?" The girl replies, "I want you to communicate your feelings." "Communicate my feelings?" said a bewildered Tommy. "I have no idea what that means." The little girl smirks and says, "Perfect. You can be the husband then." Employer to applicant: "In this job we need someone who is responsible. " Applicant: "I'm the one you want. On my last job, every time anything went wrong, they said I was responsible. " A blonde goes into aDunkin Donuts and notices there's a "peel and win" sticker on her coffee cup. So she peels it off and starts screaming, "I've won a motorhome! I've won a motorhome!" The waitress says, "That's impossible. The biggest prize is a free Lunch." But the blonde keeps on screaming, "I've won a motorhome! I've won a motorhome!" Finally, the manager comes over and says, "Ma'am, I'm sorry, but you're mistaken. You couldn't have possibly won a motorhome because we didn't have that as a prize." The blonde says, "No, it's not a mistake. I've won a motorhome!" And she hands the ticket to the manager and HE reads... "W I N A B A G E L" A husband was in big trouble when he forgot his wife's birthday. His wife told him "Tomorrow there better be something in the driveway for me that goes zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat". The next morning the wife found a small package in the driveway. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Funeral arrangements for the husband have been set for Saturday. "Arizona Vacation" On doctor's orders, Johnny had moved to Arizona. Two weeks later, he was dead. His body was shipped back home, where the undertaker prepared it for the services. Johnny's brother came in to make sure everything was taken care of. "Would you like to see the body?" the undertaker asked. "I might as well take a look at it before the others get here." The undertaker led him into the next room and opened the top half of the casket. He stood back and proudly displayed his work. "He looks good," the brother said. "Those two weeks in Arizona were just the thing for him." "Airline Ticket" As an airline reservation agent, I took a call from a man who wanted to book a flight for two but wasn't happy with the price of $59 per ticket. "I want the $49 fare I saw advertised," he insisted, saying he would accept a flight at any time. I managed to find two seats on a 6 a.m. flight. "I'll take it," he said, then worried his wife might not like the early hour. I warned there was a fee of $25 per person if he changed the reservation. "Oh, that's no problem," he said dismissively. "What's fifty bucks?" "Twelve of the Most Terrifying Things to Hear" 1. The dentist says: "This won't hurt a bit." 2. The IRS announces: "We are simplifying the tax forms." 3. Your lawyer says: "This is an air-tight case-- you can't lose." 4. Your stock broker says: "This little drop in the market is just a minor correction." 5. Your physician says: "You're in great shape-- you'll live to be 100!" 6. Your business partner says: "Nothing can possibly go wrong." 7. Your best friend says: "Trust me-- I'll never tell a soul." 8. The directions on a do-it-yourself kit say: "Even a child can do it." 9. Your colleagues say: "We're behind you 100%-- we'll back you up." 10. Someone giving you directions says: "You can't miss it." 11. The airline pilot announces: "Just a bit of turbulence folks-- nothing to worry about." 12. A voice on the telephone says: "Congratulations! You're an instant winner!" "Fishing on Sunday" A village pastor, known for his weakness for trout, preached against fishing on Sunday. The next day, one of his members presented him with a fine string of fish and said, hesitatingly, "I guess I ought to tell you, parson, that those trout were caught on Sunday." The minister hesitated, gazed appreciatively at the speckled trout, and then said piously as he reached for his gift, "The fish aren't to blame for that." "Cross-eyed Bear" A little boy came home with his parents from church one Sunday. He seemed a little depressed, so his mother asked him if something happened in Sunday School class that he would like to talk about. He told his mother, "Well, we were singing songs and the teacher made us sing about a poor bear named Gladly that needed glasses and I can't stop thinking about him. She said he was cross-eyed and I feel bad for him. The mother couldn't understand why the teacher would teach such a song in Sunday school, so she decided to call her. To the woman's amazement, the teacher said she only taught hymns that morning. Then the teacher began laughing out loud and said to the mother, "I know what Jeffrey's talking about! We learned the hymn 'Gladly The Cross I'd Bear!'" "Benefits of Tithing" Two men off for a sailing trip around the world are shipwrecked. The minute they got on to the island one of them started screaming and yelling, "We're going to die! We're going to die! There's no food! No water! We're going to die!" The second man comfortably propped himself up against a palm tree and acted so calmly it drove the first man crazy. "Don't you understand?! ? We're going to die!!" The second man replied, "You don't understand, I make $100,000 a week." The first man looked at him quite dumbfounded and asked, "What difference does that make?!? We're on an island with no food and no water! We're going to DIE!!!" The second man answered with a confident smile, "No, you just don't get it. I make $100,000 a week and I tithe ten percent on that $100,000 a week. Our church is getting ready to start a building program. My pastor and the finance committee will find me" more
